All The Greens

After being raw vegan for too long in my early 30’s, I swore off green juice. I couldn't even look at it! Let alone smell it. I’m sure at a subconscious level it reminded me of all the extreme rules and restrictions I had around eating in those years - I pretty much only ate lettuce, and at one point even considered becoming a breatharian (!!!!!)

The things we do huh? We can see here’s no logic or common sense, but we jump in, and then get burned, and then run out and swear “never again!”. But never again doesn’t last, it just turns into something else: Into another “should”, because someone I’m attracted to or attached to at some level told me so.

But “should’s” don’t belong to me. They belong to someone else.. to mom, to dad, the the pretty girl in my phone, or the one in the magazine (hey I grew up in the 90’s it was Vogue all the way for me). So let’s reclaim them, say no more, and each time the thought of a “should” comes up… pause, discern who it belongs to, and choose wether you want to keep - it or safely return to sender.

Oh and about that green juice… We have a new relationship of mutual respect and understanding that she belongs to me, and that I can drink one whenever the f@$ck I want, especially during winter, when I know I’m not in the mood for chewing too many leafy greens. And I do need my greens.

My current favorite Green Goddess Juice:

Three celery stalks, one small fennel bulb fronds and all, half a large cucumber, one peeled lemon, half a grapefruit, two kale leaves. I use a HUROM Juicer which I love, and I drink it right away, while it’s still at its liveliest.
